Autistic child smiles again, balance restored can play ball games

The mild autistic child of this case is the brother of my patient of last case. He was eight years old. When he first came to my clinic, his appearance was vibrant and normal, however, his complexion was pale and dark, without luster, and he had dark circles. His height was about a head shorter than kids of the same age and he had delayed speech. His palms felt warm. His father said that before his son turned four, he was frail and had learned to speak at a late stage. He frequently caught colds and coughs, and even had symptoms of asthma. He needed to take different kinds of antibiotics. After patient turned four, his physical fitness had improved, he ate more and gained more weight. His grades at school were not bad. The problem with him was his hand-foot coordination, he was slow in response and often, for no reason, fell and his pants often got ripped as a result.

Patient spoke better English than Cantonese. I asked him to self-report his condition, he hesitated and stared at me speechless for a while before he could utter a word. He said he did pretty well in math, but his hands and thoughts could not coordinate, his reaction was slow and he often lost balance suddenly and fell, injuring his knees quite often. At school, for sports, he took part in badminton, basketball, swimming, etc. He was afraid of playing basketball the most because most of the time he could not respond quick enough to avoid the ball and got hit on the head by the ball. When playing badminton, he was always too slow and would miss the birdie. When swimming, he was easily out of breath and would have to take a break half way before he could continue. In addition, he was afraid of the dark and height.

Swollen thyroid gland, small penis

I analyzed patient’s symptoms. Patient being easily out of breath when swimming indicated a weak heart and lungs problems. Patient had taken quite many kinds of antibiotics when little. Oral antibiotics would lead to imbalance in esophagus and intestinal bacteria. A lot of good bacteria would be killed, leaving more bad bacteria. These bad bacteria would then enter the liver and brain, damaging the nervous system. Patient had difficulties with movement coordination was due to nervous system disorders. His father said that his son’s hand writing was bad. I believed that it was also due to a brain problem, so I asked him to write something for me to keep in his file for later comparison. His hand writing was surely illegible.

Patients also had problems with thyroid enlargement. My explanation was that he was often afflicted with infection and fever when little, causing his brain microfilament blood vessels to burst, resulting in accumulation of blood stasis. In addition to a weak heart and lungs function, blood supply to the brain would not be sufficient. When he was at a place with too many people and insufficient oxygen, it would lead to hypoxia in his brain, hence he would often yawn and felt sleepy. As a matter of fact, the human brain has a self-regulating function, the thyroid will automatically increase hormone secretion to stimulate the heart rate and increase blood supply and oxygen to the brain. Over time, due to long-term excessive stimulation of the thyroid to increase hormone secretion, the thyroid became swollen. I believed that after his medication, his heart would be strengthened, heart beat reduced, blood supply to the brain would increase and the thyroid would gradually return to normal. For kids with autism, since their development is slow, the development of their sexual organs, the penis and scrotum, will be slow too. When I checked, I found patient’s penis to be short, retracting into the abdominal cavity. His scrotum was dry and not strong or plump. His dark circles indicated kidney deficiency.

Dislike talking, do not look straight at a person

In the first week of medication, the patient sweated a lot. The brightness of things around him has doubled. When playing badminton, his reaction was faster and was able to hit the ball back. He had more strength when walking and did not feel tired as easily or fall as much as before. I asked him if he could see the blackboard or hear the teacher more clearly in a class, he answered yes firmly. I also tested him on distinguishing colors and he got them all correctly. However, he did not like to speak. His eyes were not friendly and he often slanted his eyes when looking at people. He rarely smiled and looked very unhappy.

In the third follow-up visit, patient’s father said that his son won a prize in a piano competition. I said it was because after taking the medication, his hearing has improved and he could hear the notes more accurately, which was reflected and responded through his hands. Through the observation of his urine samples, I found there was blood stasis discharged only from the brain and no transparent crystal. The patient’s pale and dark complexion has subsided. His cheeks were crimson and his sleep pattern was normal. Before the treatment, when he walked, he would drag his legs like he was ice-skating, but now it was light and brisk. Patient was dyslexic, a reading and writing disability disorder. He had difficulties spelling and was always missing a letter or two. This was not due to carelessness, but because the brain could not handle signal transmission and storage properly. For children with this kind of disorder, they couldn’t help it and it couldn’t be improved.

In the sixth follow-up visit, in patient’s urine samples, there was finally tartaric acid crystals, indicated that toxins began to be discharged. This was an important indicator, because the more toxins being discharged, the faster his rehabilitation. His thyroid gland has reduced and the patient also felt the swelling part became soft. Another improvement he made was that he no longer fell all of a sudden. His ability to balance has returned to normal.

The patient’s facial expression also showed positive progress. He was usually stern and seldom spoke or smiled. In the eighth follow-up visit, he finally showed signs of joy, this was just a good start. However, in later days, he was expressionless and rarely smiled again. One day, his mother suddenly remembered and told me that before, there was a swollen part on his left upper chest ribs, but recently it had completely disappeared. I told her that it was mainly a result of liver and kidney function improvement. When there were liver problems, lumps or swelling might occur. Under my treatment and medication, the body meridian was opened up and the lumps of mass eventually disappeared. His mother also said that sometimes he seemed to not hear her when she called him. I told her that her son might be hearing only monophonic sound, there was no stereo and direction with the sound he heard. Many autistic children have this problem. I then checked the patient’s sexual organs, his penis was longer and the scrotum was stouter.

Detoxification of liver, skin itchy

In the twelfth follow-up visit, the patient’s urine sample showed a lot of dead liver tissue. This proved that there was problem with the liver. The patient often had itchy skin, this was due to toxins being discharged from the liver. Later, his mother told me that he hated taking the Chinese medicine and was very upset. No wonder every time I asked him if he felt any improvement with his condition, he always said no, which was just out of contempt and not the truth. For that, I told him in particular that his parents loved him so much they had sacrificed a lot of time and money to find him a medical treatment for his condition. I told him that he was totally unaware of how blessed and privileged he was. For some families, the parents were so busy trying to make a living, they would not have the time or money for this. Then I asked him where those transparent crystal in his urine sample came from? Why was there so many toxins discharged from his brain? He was speechless, unable to answer. Since then, his attitude had eased, as if he had accepted my words. However, his expression still seemed unhappy.

In the seventeenth follow-up visit, the patient caught a cold. He had nasal congestion and runny nose so I prescribed to him a cold medicine. After taking the cold medicine, the mother said that he was much better, less cough, but the nose was still congested. I told him to continue with the medicine on time. He sweated a lot during the night and the following day his fever was gone. The fever he had was actually a pseudo fever syndrome, which occurred as a result of the detoxification process. I reminded his parents to pay more attention when this pseudo fever syndrome occurred because afterwards, they should notice significant improvement with the patient in all aspects. Later I asked the patient again whether he felt any improvement with his body. His answer was still the same as before, negative. This was because he did not exercise in the past few days and could not tell the difference with his physical coordination if any. So I told him to read more to see whether there was improvement in his reading ability.

In the earlier stage of the treatment, patient did not fall. However, the situation lasted only for a short time, later on, he started falling again. Not until after his twenty-first visit did he stop falling again. His mother had also hired a badminton coach to teach him badminton. She said his reaction was faster and his coordination was enhanced. The situation of his delayed reaction to hitting the ball back has improved greatly, yet, he said he did not feel any progress. Nevertheless, his mother thought there was a breakthrough improvement. The coach also said that his skills catching the ball had improved. Like before, after the patient went through a pseudo fever, the condition had improved.

Smile on the face, improved conversation

In the twenty-second follow-up visit, the patient gave me an unexpected surprise. When I asked him whether he felt any improvement, he smiled and answered yes. I asked him in what way he felt improved. He said his balance has improved. “Then you don’t fall anymore?” I asked. “Yes,” he said firmly. In addition, his mother told me that the badminton coach said that he has progressed quickly. When playing video games, he could indeed react faster than before. This was a very good phenomenon. I thought his thinking and ability to understand should also have progressed at the same time, but it was difficult to see in the short period of time.

The color of the urine samples patient brought for this visit were mostly deep orange-brown, indicated blood stasis being discharged from the heart and brain. Some were even purple-red, which turned black after oxidation, indicated a lot of blood stasis and toxins being discharged from the liver. At the bottom of the samples, there was also tartaric acid crystals and cholesterol precipitates. This meant that he still had a lot of blood stasis and toxins in his body needed to be discharged. Because his brother was also suffering from autism, their family had been to Florida in the United States to meet with autism experts to do assessment test. After the analysis, he failed in a number of items.

Coach praised his moves and reaction

Since the patient started to show a smile on his face, every time he saw me he would greet me politely. When I took pictures of him for the archive, he would reveal a friendly look. He looked a lot more cheerful than before. When I asked him if there was any improvement in his ball games, he said no, but his parents immediately corrected him saying that both the badminton and basketball coaches said he had a significant improvement. The basketball coach even said his skills were above average in the class. His mother also said that his agility has improved in other ways too. In fact, he has been constantly progressing, however, he was not able to tell because he never paid much attention to the details. His mother reminded him saying, “Didn’t you tell me you could play with your left hand more flexibly than before?” He agreed, he has just simply forgotten. In addition, he has participated in a reading course and his grades was first in the class. That was indeed an excellent progress.

Since patient has progressed so amazingly, in the later stage of the treatment, his parents once again took him to the United States to meet with some autism experts. Based on the assessment results, he was not considered autistic. This proved that his condition was close to the rehabilitation stage. His mother also said that according to the assessment of his sports teacher, he has no problem with his hands and feet coordination. I believed that his condition has been generally recovered. His urine samples also rarely had brain toxins crystal. I suggested that he could stop treatment, the successful conclusion of the treatment. The patient was treated from 14 December 2009 to 26 February 2011, for about one year and two months and a total of about 60 visits.
